Old News

Traditionally the team gathers the Thursday before meets for a potluck dinner at a teammate’s home.  It is meant to be a social gathering for the team while they share a pre-meet meal.  A host family provides the venue and the team families sign up to contribute towards the meal providing the main dishes, salads, desserts, paper products and drinks.

There are five more team dinners this season and four are available for hosting.  The available dates are December 8, December 15, January 12 and January 19.

If you are interested in hosting a team dinner at your home or have questions about the team meals please email Norma Foti at nkfoti@gmail.com.  Meal contributions will be requested prior to each dinner.  Thank you in advance for your contribution in making this season a fun one for the team.

1)  Students should meet at AHS at 6:00 on Friday, December 2 to catch the Bus to the Swim/Dive Meet
Students are required to take the bus to and from the meet.  Any exceptions should be cleared through the coaches prior to the meet.
Coach Kendall's email is mikendal@syr.edu and Coach Douglas' email is vcdouglas@fcps.edu.

The Coaches would like to have a team meeting at 6:00 in Coach Douglas’s room.  Since the meet starts at 8:30, you might want to bring a snack or light dinner to eat during the meeting, whatever you are comfortable eating prior to a meet- please don’t go to the meet hungry.

Just a reminder - It is the parents’ responsibility to pick up the kids at AHS Jock Lobby promptly after the meet.  Have your child contact you when the bus is leaving the meet so you can be waiting at the school when the bus gets there.  The coaches cannot leave the school until all the kids are picked up from the school.  Or better yet, come volunteer and you will know when it is over.

FYI - Sometimes the team goes out to eat after the meet. They don’t always go after a late meet.  They seem to decide at the meet if they are going and where.  Again, it is the parents’ responsibility to get the kids to and from the restaurant.

2) WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS.  WE ARE IN NEED OF A DIVE JUDGE.  Does anyone know someone who is qualified to judge, who can come to the meet this Friday? If so, please email me or call me at 703-203-2037.  We also need FIVE more timers.  We can’t have a meet if we don’t get enough volunteers.  Please consider volunteering if at all possible. Link to sign up.

3) The swim suits are coming this week.  Will update when we know what is going on.

4) Don’t forget the team dinner at the Fotis’ House tomorrow, Thursday, December 1st at 6:00.

Address: 4100 Whispering Lane, Annandale.  Norma Foti’s email is nkfoti@gmail.com.

5) Timers and table workers should be at Oak Marr on the pool deck by 7:45.  If you have not volunteered at a swim/dive meet, volunteers usually wear white shirts and dark pants.  Timers’ shoes will get wet.  Some people bring sandals

Team Dinner - Thursday, Dec 1 at the Foti Home!
